The Wooplak Story
From a basement in Brooklyn
In 2001, we came across a set of professional laminating machines from a business that was closing. We didn’t have a company yet — just the sense that there was something worth building. So we bought the equipment and got to work.
One customer
at a time
We started small, serving people in our neighborhood who wanted a better way to preserve their photos. Slowly, the word spread. We moved into a storefront. We built relationships with local photographers, schools, and families — earning their trust by focusing on quality and craftsmanship.
Staying the course
As the industry shifted toward mass production, many small shops couldn’t keep up. But we didn’t change what we were doing, and our customers stayed loyal because they could see the difference: premium prints, mounted and finished by hand, one at a time.
Still small.
Still by hand.
Today, the business has grown — but not too much. We still work out of a small shop, making everything by hand. Every piece that leaves our shop is made with the same care we started with — because that’s what our customers count on.
